湄南河是泰國最主要的河流，泰語「湄南」แม่น้ำ的意思就是「河流之母」，湄南河就猶如泰國人的母親。
湄南河泰式料理起源於1995年台中中友百貨，創始人來自泰北清邁。自小就嘗遍泰國各省的特色料理，取名「湄南河」也是為了緬懷母親的恩澤。
當夜幕低垂時湄南河兩岸餐廳林立，燈火通明，各式各樣的海鮮料理，琳琅滿目，而泰國人最愛三五好友或家人同聚大啖美食話家常，創始人正希望把這樣輕鬆、優閒的曼谷夜生活氛圍帶回台灣和大家分享。
